The Fone Impact 2006 was the best kite that Fone Kiteboarding produced that year. In general we can say that the Freestyle kite has been built not that tough (I’ve seen some impacts being torn up in the line-up), but the Impact flies incredibly light and turns on a dime. The 11 m Impact feels like a 10m or even a 9m and feels really responsive. Combine this with light bar pressure and you end up flying a kite that will offer hours of good fun. Want to buy the Fone Impact 2007? Go for the Tribal 2 then, but if you can get your hands on a 2006..
When underpowered you’ll find it rigid and light. In strong winds it has big de-power and very good manoeuvrability. One important piece of advice though: fly the Impact with 24 m lines! Everybody says the extentions make the kite behave a lot more civilised.
The Impact is well suited for wave jumping, freestyle and even wave riding because of the integral fifth line system. It comes with the recognizable zebra print bar system which is a pretty good bas system. Do try and replace the old safety with a system like cabrinha’s or north’s. You wont regret it when you find yourself in trouble and wanting to ditch the kite fast..
Overal the fone impact is a pretty good kite, for sure the best that Fone produced in 2006.
found it insane because it handles gusts really well and provides a solid de-power. But it turns fast and requires attention. I found a pity that that there is no system to deflate battens faster.
